Boswellic acid:
Boswellic acid provides beneficial effects by alleviating various dysfunctions within the locomotor system. In traditional Indian medicine, it is used not only for regenerating bones, joints, and the spine but also for respiratory issues (expectorant and antiseptic effects) and as an anti-rheumatic remedy. It has immune-modulating properties, influencing the immune system and stimulating cytokine production. Boswellia serrata supports repair processes in muscles and physiologic post-training regeneration. It reduces inflammatory mediator activity, which can lead to joint surface degradation (cartilage tissue breakdown) and lowers oxidative stress.
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane):
MSM is a potent antioxidant. It improves the transport of many nutrients to and from cells, helps remove harmful metabolic by-products, and maintains a permeable and flexible cell membrane. This leads to balanced pressure within cells, reducing swelling and stiffness. MSM plays a significant role in regenerating cartilage tissue in joints and supports the construction of tendons, ligaments, and muscles. It participates in collagen and keratin synthesis and stimulates antibody production, thereby supporting the immune system.
Vitamin C:
Vitamin C has antioxidant properties and positively influences the physiological balance of connective, cartilage, and bone tissue, as well as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production. Increased vitamin C demand occurs during stress (e.g., transport, competitions), intensified training, and lack of pasture access. It also supports recovery after injuries, illness and in cases of fatigue and allergies.
Safety: No negative effects on the digestive system or liver function have been observed. It is not listed as a banned substance by the FEI.
Uses
- Sport: protects and regenerates the locomotor system, alleviates joint and muscle stiffness, back and spine pain, swelling and bone growths.
- Senior Horses: reduces stiffness, improves joint mobility, helps with osteoporosis and alleviates rheumatic and arthritic diseases.
